About Us
Craftwork Upholstery manufactures contract furniture - we make care and nursing home furniture, such as nursing home chairs and care home chairs, hotel furniture including hotel chairs, sports club and social club furniture, hospital and healthcare furniture, sofas for student accommodation and extreme chairs to support mental health. We operate from a specially designed factory based in Leeds, West Yorkshire and our large showroom means you can browse our extensive contract furniture range which includes lounge chairs, dining chairs, bedroom furniture, lounge furniture and dining and coffee tables.
All our contract furniture is manufactured to order, so for upholstered furniture you can choose any suitable fabric and select from 6 standard wood stain colours - we can also colour match to your own wood samples. On the bedroom and lounge cabinet furniture you can choose from several wood stains. For large orders we can make bespoke pieces from your drawings or specifications. In the early stages, we can lend out furniture samples and send you fabric and wood samples.
All our contract furniture is suitable for medium hazard areas as defined by BS 7176. We only use contract grade CMHR foams and use fabrics which comply with BS 5852 crib5 as standard. We can produce furniture suitable for high hazard areas with crib7 testing if required.
We manufacture our contract seating to the highest standards using air or kiln dried hardwood and traditional methods which ensure stability and longevity. Polishing is carried out to BS 6250 severe contract standard and utilises Medicoate lacquer to resist microbial growth and combat infection.
Our quality system is compliant with ISO 9001:2015. We have tested many of our chairs to BS EN 16139:2013, tables to BS EN 15372:2008 and cabinet furniture to BS EN 16121:2013. Every item of furniture we produce is inspected at each stage of the manufacturing process and again before dispatch. We are approved suppliers on the NHS Framework Agreement for i) Ward & Residential Furniture and ii) Challenging Environments. We are also on the ESPO Framework Reference 87_18 for Leisure and Residential Furniture.
Each craftsman signs off his work on a quality assurance slip that stays with the product all its life. A works reference number, on the same slip, provides full traceability.
